We currently pay ~35-40eur/month per host.Running both a DE and NL server (~70eur/month) including the time it takes to maintain them, update, troubleshoot when required, etc. is very time consuming and not without cost.Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.Provider choice and cost:The VM's the servers reside on right now are probably a little overkill but we prefer to have the overhead, many lower tiered VM hostings will share your CPU cycles with other users, which would almost always result in lag during peak hours.These are the lowest tier servers on both Azure and Linode with a Dedicated CPU, which allows us to easily run 3 or 4 rtcwpro servers per VM without having to worry about resource usage or any other limits. The pricing for gcloud and AWS are similar. While there are cheaper hosts available; and we've tried some in the past (ie vultr, digitalocean) we found them to be often less reliable, poorly performing or provide connectivity issues for some users. As Google, AWS, Azure and Linode (Akamai) own the vast majority of the network in the EU it's far less likely for most users' ISPs to run into troubles with them.If this patreon gets more donations than needed I will look into options for reinvesting money into the community in some way. I will keep a rainy day fund for months where we might not have enough server credits. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on the subject.
